About Us
Our Sport
Show Hunter is a jumping discipline, affiliated with Equestrian Sports NZ, where the horse, and rider in equitation classes, are judged on style, movement, form and accuracy. It provides a solid foundation in jumping for both horse and rider paving the way to future success. Many of New Zealand’s top Show Jumping riders began their careers in the Show Hunter ring and have gone on to international success.
Courses are designed to be inviting and to allow the horse and rider to execute a smooth and flowing performance.
Our Group
Show Hunter Waitemata are an enthusiastic and forward thinking volunteer group that organise and run premier show hunter shows across the summer season. We are enthusiastic about the growth of the sport and work hard to host events that are professionally run, friendly and that provide a polished environment for top level competition. Our summer shows are enjoyed by riders of all ages who come from around the upper North Island to compete.
Our Growth
Every year Show Hunter Waitemata strive to develop the sport to be the best it can be. Their goal is to grow and see the quality of competition improve. With a membership covering all age groups including adults, teenagers and children, SHW has seen incredible growth in recent years but as the sport grows, the demand for a high level of professionalism increases and we can only continue to offer such a high standard of competition through seeking a family of sponsors.
