National Series 2010/11
The last round of the national Show Hunter High Points series titles was run at Horse of the Year.  The series titles are awarded to combinations and riders with the highest points count across the season and the categories span Open, Amateur, Junior and Pony Categories A, B & C, with a separate Equitation title for adults, juniors and pony riders.

The competition was blistering this year, particularly in the Gyro Plastics Amateur and Junior series where the results went down to the wire right to the very end; resulting in some great displays of showhunter over the last few shows of the season – great for the sport of Show Hunter, all competitors and for our sponsors. A full set of results with all wins and places can be found on the ESNZ website.

Showhunter Waitemata had some great results across the season with many of our riders, top competitors in the national series.  Trudi Biggar had another great year, placing 4th on Meersbrooke Fire n’Ice and 6th on Meersbrooke Hot Ice in her first year in the Gyro Plastics Amateur Series.  Trudi also placed 6th in the Kiwispan Open Series on Meersbrooke Fire n’ Ice and 2nd in the NRM Adult Equitation.  Tracey Page, a well known local instructor was placed 9th on Hezakiwi in the Gyro Plastics Amateur series.  Tracey is also responsible for training several other successful Waitemata riders.

Junior rider Stephanie Joustra on Disney led the Gyro Plastics Junior Series from start to finish in the Northern region and ended up placed 2nd overall in the Series and 2nd in the NRM Junior Equitation Series. Stephanie was also placed 4th in the Kiwispan Open Series and 4th in the Gyro Plastics Junior series on her long-time campaigner, Mandella. Stephanie and Disney had a great season also winning the National Champs Junior in Canterbury and the North Island Champs in Foxton.

Maddison Bult had a great year in the in the Albany Toyota Category A Pony Series, placing 6th on Evermore Scholar.   Waitemata combinations also did well in the T&M Nurseries Category B series with local pony Galaxy Touch n Go, ridden by Auckland rider Laura Lush and local rider Olivia Hill placing 5th and Coatesville rider Greta Darroch and her pony, Acclaim placing 7th.  In the Technology By Design Category C ponies, Holly Moorman and Breeze Along had a great season in the High Points series, coming in 4th – a huge achievement given the tough competition in Category C.  Holly also pulled off a second in the NRM Pony Equitation series.

A  huge thanks to the national Show Hunter series sponsors, many of them local Waitemata supporters; Gyro Plastics, T&M Nurseries, Albany Toyota and Technology By Design.

Congratulations to all placegetters!
